CUMMINS MERCRUISER DIESEL ANNOUNCES NEW 300 HP RATING FOR ELECTRONIC 4.2 LITRE MARINE ENGINE

CHARLESTON, SC (12 February, 2003) – The Cummins MerCruiser Diesel new product team has introduced a new 300 horsepower rating for the 4.2 ES 300 electronic sterndrive engine. Producing 300 metric horsepower (221 kW) for recreational applications, the new 4.2 ES 300 features new 2-stage injectors providing lower emissions and noise levels. Standard features of the 6-cylinder in-line 4.2-liter displacement 4.2 ES 300 include an advanced electronic control system for optimum performance and reliability, gear lube monitor and a newly designed intake port for higher swirl and better combustion.

The 4.2 ES 300 also offers standard electronic features including an advanced microprocessor which monitors all engine settings. The engine is turbocharged, wastegated and aftercooled for quick response, superior performance and virtually smoke free operation.
