(Charleston, South Carolina) – Cummins MerCruiser Diesel is expanding a new line of compact, integrated jet drive and diesel engine packages for recreational applications in 170 mhp, 200 mhp and 250 mhp configurations. Added to the previous 120 hp version, these next generation models feature a 10” jet with a high volume pump that gives increased thrust and load carrying capabilities even on lower horsepower offerings. The new jet models are powered by the 2.8L ES 170, 2.8L ES 200 and 4.2L ES 250 stern drive engines with their proven reliability and durability. These new models provide performance that rivals stern drives, while providing shallow water running capabilities that only a jet can offer.

Listening to input from boat builders concerned with weight and size, design engineers created a close coupled gearbox. This design eliminates the need for a drive shaft, thereby reducing the power package length by approximately 19”. The mounting configuration accommodates the standard stern drive mounting system for ease of installation.

There are a host of new features on these models. One of the most notable features end users will notice is the ease with which the single lever remote control operates. A power assisted hydraulic reverse bucket provides effortless shifting for outstanding maneuverability and fast emergency stops. Longevity is enhanced through the use of a stainless steel shaft, impeller and wear ring for corrosion protection. To further protect the jet against corrosion, a stainless steel bonding system and an extensive array of anodes are employed. An impeller clean out port is located outside of the boat that avoids the chance of flooding when cleaning out the pump. To allow adjusting the running attitude of the boat, an adjustable trim tab is provided. A manually adjustable trim tab allows for fine tuning the running attitude of boat. Power trim is available as an accessory to allow adjustment of the boat trim angle while underway to accommodate a broad range of operating conditions. A power takeoff on the jet allows up to a 5 hp device to be driven from the pump to accommodate a wash down pump, or some other device.

Based in Charleston, South Carolina (USA), Cummins MerCruiser Diesel is responsible for designing, manufacturing and providing reliable after-sales support worldwide for marine products. It offers a broad range of power, with available ratings from 120-715HP for recreational applications and 77-588HP for commercial use.
