Cummins MerCruiser Diesel Launches SmartCraft ™ Upgrade
(Charleston, S.C.) – Getting optimal performance from your boat requires all vessel systems to work together. For the captain, the ultimate in convenience is having one central location to access and monitor critical vessel information. CMD responds with an upgrade of its SmartCraft (version 2.2) vessel integration system, now including VesselView™ and DTS (Digital Throttle & Shift).
Estimated vessel range, fuel consumption and engine temperature are all at your fingertips with VesselView™. By constantly monitoring and integrating the vast amount of information your SmartCraft™ enabled systems can provide, VesselView™ allows you to fully maximize every aspect of your boat’s performance.
The VesselView™ 5 inch low profile surface mounted multi-color display is easily viewable in direct sunlight. Its intuitive user interface is easy to use. One-touch operation allows the operator to access propulsion screens, vessel screens, environmental & navigational screens and much more. Gain confidence with total integrated vessel control by having instant visibility to engine information, diagnostics, trip information, fuel management, speed, location, gear temperature and oil pressure. VesselView™ also offers capability for a 2-engine configuration.
VesselView™ confirms thatCMD is taking another step toward becoming the marine industry’s prop-to-helm performance leader. VesselView™ is the next generation of vessel control and information management for boaters around the world.
A major component of the SmartCraft architecture is the introduction of the Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), with expandable system architecture to give the operator what
amounts to a personalized helm. Even the throttle resistance can be adjusted to an operator’s preference!
Giving the boat operator intuitive engine and gear control, DTS guarantees smoother and faster shifting and accelerating, because the system does the shifting itself. No more will the vessel abruptly pull or jerk with the imprecise shifting of previous, purely mechanical systems.
The DTS system provides a higher level of safety by braking the vessel faster than conventional systems, with no damage to the drive or engine. A new “SmartStart/Stop” feature eliminates the risk of ruining your starter by accidentally turning the key when the engine is already running.
With the innovations of VesselView and DTS incorporated into our new SmartCraft 2.2 vessel control system, Cummins MerCruiser Diesel continues to be the industry leader in vessel information technology, making boating life simple, easy and enjoyable.
