Cummins
MerCruiser Diesel Announces New Commercial Engine Ratings For QSM11
and QSC8.3
Cummins
MerCruiser Diesel has announced new commercial engine application ratings
for the Quantum Series QSM11 at 300 hp (220kW), 355 hp (261kW), 405
hp (298kW) and 455 hp (336kW) respectively. Additionally, commercial
engine application ratings of 490 hp (361kW) for the QSC8.3 diesel engine
were released.
Utilizing the proven fuel-efficient CELECT and common rail fuel systems
that delivers virtually smoke-free, quiet, yet powerful operation, these
full-authority electronic system engines are EPA Tier 2 and IMO emissions
compliant.
Available with the highly desirable keel cooling option, Cummins MerCruiser
Diesel engineers have configured the engines with a wet exhaust system
and created new smaller-frame waste gated turbochargers to provide more
air into each of the cylinders. Quantum Series engines are SmartCraft
enabled, offering captains with instant, one-touch digital access to
a plethora of networked information on the performance of their vessels.
The Quantum Series of diesel engines offer significant improvements
in operational costs, particularly when compared with engines of just
a decade ago. Aside from better fuel efficiency, durability and reliability
are measurably improved. Fortified turbines, improved piston rings and
stronger gear trains that offer better performance are some of the brilliant
Cummins MerCruiser Diesel enhancements that contribute to significantly
enhancing the life of each engine, while greatly reducing maintenance
intervals and associated service costs.
