New
Ratings For Electronic 4.2 Litre Engine
Cummins MerCruiser Diesel has announced new recreational application
ratings at 270HP (199kW) and 320HP (235kW) for its 4.2-litre in-line-six
electronic engine.
The new 4.2 ES 270 and 4.2 ES 320 high-revving sterndrives feature an
electronic engine platform with advanced two-stage injectors, providing
lower emissions and noise levels. Tuned for quick response, superior
performance and virtually smoke-free operation – meeting SAV1
requirements – the new engines are based on the 300HP (221kW)
model introduced in 2003. They are turbocharged, wastegated and aftercooled.
Among the upgrades that have been added is a new engine cover that protects
all main electrical components from water that might flow from the engine
compartment hood.
The 4.2 ES 270 and 320 can be coupled with the Bravo One X, Two X or
Three X diesel drives, now featuring easier installation and further
durability. The 4.2 EI 270 and 4.2 EI 320 are the corresponding inboard
versions, available with ZF down-angle or V-drive gear.
