NISI 2400 powered by triple CMD Zeus system to be unveiled in Miami
CHARLESTON, S.C. – NISI Yachts looks to make a world-class debut on the pod-propelled yacht scene with its 78-foot NISI 2400, which will be unveiled at the 2011 Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show, Feb. 17-21 in Miami Beach, Fla.
The striking new model has a beam of 19 feet, drafts 3 feet, 6 inches, and has four staterooms to comfortably and luxuriously accommodate eight guests, plus two crew. It is powered by the award-winning CMD Zeus propulsion system in a triple configuration, so it has three QSC8.3-liter 600-hp engines mated to a trio of pods.
The Zeus system gives the vessel outstanding speed and range, and it gives the captain the ability to easily dock and perform other slow-speed maneuvers by virtue of joystick control. Zeus employs drive-by-wire technology to independently steer and vary thrust to each of the pods, which intuitively translates simple hand movements into complex boat maneuvers, giving the user an unprecedented level of confidence and control, even in challenging currents and windy conditions. The system also has the exclusive Skyhook feature, which, at the touch of a button, uses GPS technology and a digital compass to hold the boat’s position and heading indefinitely – handy for waiting for a spot at the fuel dock or for a bridge opening. Trim tabs are integrated into each pod, and the user has the choice of operating them manually, or allowing Zeus to automatically adjust them as needed.
The Zeus-powered NISI 2400 has a top speed of 28 knots and a fast cruise of 25 knots, both impressive for a luxury motoryacht that has a dry weight of 80,000 lbs. With its 1,409-gallon fuel tank, the NISI boasts a range of 1,500 nautical miles at 9 knots.
By the way, don’t let the jaw-dropping styling and fancy technology fool you: the NISI 2400 is built tough, and has the papers to prove it. It is the first and only yacht in the world under 80 feet to be certified to both RINA Charter and MCA Commercial standards, giving it credentials that are typically only attainable by top-shelf superyachts.
The NISI 2400 will be on display at the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show, located on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. CMD will be showing its full product line a few blocks away at the Miami International Boat Show in Booth No. M87 in the Miami Beach Convention Center. MIBS also runs Feb. 17-21.
